I love Valentine’s Day. A day to celebrate love. When I was a little girl my grandpa gave me a heart shaped box of chocolate every single year. It was such a loving gesture and one that I will never forget. It was not so much the box of chocolate, but more the fact that it was something that he picked out for each of his grandkids.

Over the past two weeks I have been helping my oldest daughter, Mira, make Valentine cards for all her classmates. It has been a long process. I think that when she exchanges the cards with her friends she will be glad she put in all the time and effort.

Mira has a birthday coming up. The tradition at her school is that the birthday child brings a small gift for all of his/her classmates. It is usually something natural like a rock, seashell or a wood bead necklace. I have made small heart shaped sachettes for Mira to take. They are filled with organic lavender and rice. I used fabric scraps and whipped them up in no time at all. I hope the kids like them.
