For Christmas this year I made the girls a puppet theater using Amy Karol’s pattern from Bend the Rules Sewing. It is a HUGE hit. Thanks to gifts of puppets from both Grandma and Nana we have countless characters for daily shows. So Much Fun!

Preparations are under way at the Metter house. Tree is up and decorated. Stockings hung by the fireplace. Homemade holiday gifts are flying out from under my sewing machine needle daily along with all the other treats and crafts that the girls are helping me with. I should be watching what I eat since I [...]

Mira is watercolor painting with leaves collected from our neighborhood. I love this picture that Mira drew. I am thinking about printing it onto fabric paper and using it in a new dress for her. This years pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. A yearly school field trip.

Some time ago, my aunt Penny gave me her old quilt. This quilt was made and given to her by her grandmother (my great grandma) as a wedding gift. It was well used and well loved. The backing and binding were tearing off and in poor condition. However, the top was is great shape and [...]

This year we had a Pancakes on the Patio in your PJ’s Party for 2 yr old Willow. I decided to make both the girls pj’s out of vintage fabric instead of purchasing new. I used vintage Simplicity 6855 from the 1960′s for Mira’s pjs. Willow’s is a current McCalls pattern M4643. Both were made [...]

Mira’s school has had several events over the past month including a May Day festival, Mother’s Day Tea and a field trip to Sunflower Farms in Longmont Colorado. Here are some highlights.

I have been busy this past week. I made a baby hat from an old felted sweater. The same felted sweater that I made these chicks from. The hat is from a pattern found in an old issue of Stitch Magazine. I made my oldest daughter a new pair of slippers from some fleece found [...]

Another Easter has come and gone. It is by far my favorite holiday of the year. I mostly see it as a celebration of Spring and renewal. I hosted a family brunch this year and we had a wonderful time sharing food, love and the wonder of a holiday with my two girls. They were [...]

I am aiming for a handmade Easter for my girls. I made each of them a little skirt with a mama hen and two little chicks. Just like me and my Mira and Willow. The applique patterns are from Martha and the skirt pattern is from Oliver + S (FREE!). Thanks Kristen & Suzie for [...]

We got chicks about three weeks ago. Their names are Olive, Hazel, Parsley, Dosa and Samosa. We hope to move them out to their new coop and run in the next couple weeks. I will be happy when that day comes, because right now they are living in my sewing room!
